Tamilnadu Tourism :

Tamilnadu Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC) was incorporated in 1971 with the main object of promoting tourism in Tamilnadu by building tourism related infrastructure on commercial basis. TTDC made a modest begining by taking over 5 Govt. bungalows and operated 2 coaches. It has made rapid strides since then and today it has earned the proud distinction of owning the longest chain of hotels in South India numbering 53. The fleet of coaches has increased to 13. TTDC is providing the following facilities covering all the major tourists destinations in the state for the benifit of tourists.

• Restaurants
• Snack Bar
• Boat Houses
• Telescope Houses
• Lake park
• Petrol Bunk
• Coaches  for operation of Tours
• Exhibition site at Island Ground for conduct of exhibitions.

TTDC is operating Youth Hostels, wherein dormitory accommodation is provided to the budget tourists. This has helped the tourists to avail low cost accommodation even during the peak season in Ooty, Kodaikanal and Yercaud. 

HOTELS :

TTDC is at present having the following outlets :

Out of the 53 hotels under the control of TTDC, TTDC is currently operating 22 hotels and 21 hotels have been leased to private hoteliers. 
 

All the hotels have been upgraded to ensure comfortable stay for the tourists.

TRANSPORT DIVISION :

The Transport Division is at present having a fleet of 13 coaches, of which two are Volvo and nine are AC coaches. TTDC is offering wide range of package tours covering the entire Southern States. 

RAIL CUM ROAD TOURS :

TTDC had launched Rail-cum-Road tours from Mumbai, Kolkatta, Delhi, Ahmedabad and Lucknow during the year 2002-2003 wherein confirmed rail tickets, tour of Tamilnadu in TTDC's Hitech coach, accommodation in TTDC hotels and Guides services are provided. The tourists are accorded a warm reception at Chennai Central Station and are also boarded at Chennai Central for return journey. 

SALES & MARKETING :

Apart from the Sales Counter at Tourism Complex ,Wallaja Road, Chennai,  TTDC is also having Sales Counters in other States and union terriory at New Delhi, Kolkatta, Mumbai, Thiruvanthapuram, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Jaipur etc 

FAIR :

The India Tourist and Industrial Fair is organised every year from January to March for 75 days. All the Govt. Departments will erect their pavilions in attractive manner with working models to educate the public about the welfare measures and development programmes undertaken by the State Govt. Apart from the regular India and Tourist and Industrial Fair, Summer Fair, Deepavali Fair, Food Fair etc.,  are conducted at the Island Ground in an area of 21 acres.

E-GOVERANCE:

TTDC had earned the distinction of being the first State Tourism Corporation to introduce on-line booking of Tours and Hotels across Tamilnadu under the aegis of the Hon'ble Chief Miniser of Tamil Nadu during July 2004. This has helped TTDC to improve its revenue significantly through online bookings of TTDC Tours and Hotels.  

Mobile reservation of TTDC Hotels and Tous was launched by the Hon,ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on the World Tourism Day i.e 27th September 2012. This has helped the Tourists to book TTDC Hotels and Tours through their Mobile.  

Wi-Fi connectivity was provided in nine major Hotels TTDC during 2015 - 16.   Further Wi-Fi connectivity has  been provided in TTDC Coach for the benefit of Tourists. 

TTDC has earned revenue of Rs.10.07 Crore during the year 2015-16 compared to the revenue of Rs.10.04 crore earned in 2014-15 through online reservation of Hotels and Tours..
